American Gold Eagle Coins

The American Eagle Gold Coins is a gold bullion coin produced by the United States Mint. First minted in 1986, it comes in 1/10, 1/4. 1/2 and 1 ounce coins.

The American Gold Eagle coins are 22 karat gold. The measured weights are guaranteed by the United States Mint. This coin is a good gold bullion coin to carry as it comes in different denominations. In the event bad times exist, the small denomination coins will be easier to trade. However, the premium (cost of the coin over the current gold price) or surcharge fee will be higher for the smaller denominations.

I would only purchase the American Gold Eagle in brilliant uncirculated or in coin graded condition if I was buying to preserve wealth. The American Gold Eagle Proof sets are more expensive and should be used as collector’s item or an investment item. Many people believe that if gold is confiscated, a numismatic gold coin is the only safe way to hold gold.
