American Eagle Gold Coins

The American Eagle Gold Coins is a gold bullion coin produced by the United States Mint. First minted in 1986, it comes in 1/10, 1/4. 1/2 and 1 ounce coins.

The American Gold Eagle coins are 22 karat gold. The measured weights are guaranteed by the United States Mint. This coin is a good gold bullion coin to carry as it comes in different denominations. In the event bad times exist, the small denomination coins will be easier to trade. However, the premium (cost of the coin over the current gold price) or surcharge fee will be higher for the smaller denominations.

I would only purchase the American Gold Eagle in brilliant uncirculated condition if I was buying to preserve wealth. The American Gold Eagle Proof sets and the graded coins are more expensive and should be used as a collector’s item or an investment item only. It should also be noted that some believe the graded coins or proof coins are safer than bullion in the USA due to possible confiscation.
